Now, let's learn more about Rootstock:

Rootstock is the first and longest-standing Bitcoin Layer 2, on mainnet since 2018 and aims to enhance Bitcoin's capabilities by enabling smart contracts, thereby bringing more functionality and versatility to the Bitcoin ecosystem.

One of Rootstock's standout features is its merged mining capability allowing Bitcoin miners to simultaneously mine Bitcoin and Rootstock without needing additional resources. This ensures that Rootstock benefits from the same level of security as the Bitcoin network, as the miners contribute to the security of both blockchains at the same time.

Rootstock operates with its native token, rBTC, which is pegged 1:1 to Bitcoin. This means that for every rBTC in circulation, there is an equivalent Bitcoin locked on the Bitcoin blockchain. rBTC is used to pay for transaction fees and smart contract execution within the Rootstock ecosystem.
